As of May 15, 2025, Halle Bailey has been granted a temporary restraining order against her ex-boyfriend, rapper DDG (Darryl Dwayne Granberry Jr.), amid serious allegations of abuse and child custody concerns.
In court documents, Bailey accuses DDG of physical, emotional, verbal, and financial abuse throughout their relationship and after their separation. She cites a January incident where DDG allegedly assaulted her during an argument, resulting in a chipped tooth and bruises. Bailey also expressed fears that DDG might attempt to abduct their one-year-old son, Halo, referencing past threats and an incident where he purchased a one-way ticket for a visit without informing her of return plans. Additionally, she reported that DDG used his social media platforms to incite harassment against her, including a “#freehalo” campaign by his fans .
The restraining order mandates that DDG stay at least 100 yards away from Bailey and Halo, prohibits him from contacting them, and restricts him from making public comments about them. Bailey is seeking sole legal and physical custody of Halo, allowing for supervised visitation once a week for six hours while Halo is in Los Angeles . A court hearing regarding the custody request is scheduled for June 4.
DDG has publicly denied the allegations, expressing frustration over limited access to his son and stating that he prefers to resolve the matter amicably without court involvement. He has also released a song titled “Don’t Take My Son,” expressing his desire to be part of Halo’s life .
