Gary Lineker Under Fire: Apology Follows Backlash Over ‘Antisemitic’ Post.

Gary Lineker, a prominent BBC presenter, has publicly apologized after sharing a controversial video on Instagram that was widely condemned as antisemitic. The post, originally from a pro-Palestinian account, included a rat emoji alongside a video critical of Zionism—imagery historically associated with antisemitic propaganda.

Lineker stated that he was unaware of the offensive implications and removed the post after being alerted. He emphasized that he does not support antisemitism and regrets any hurt caused. Despite his apology, Jewish organizations and public figures have criticized the post and called on the BBC to take disciplinary action, arguing it damages the broadcaster’s credibility.

This incident comes amid heightened scrutiny of BBC presenters’ use of social media and follows previous controversies involving Lineker. While he has stepped down from hosting Match of the Day, he is still slated to cover major sporting events like the FA Cup and 2026 World Cup for the BBC.
