LONDON — Influencer and former kickboxer Andrew Tate will face a UK civil trial in June 2026 after four women accused him of rape, physical abuse, and coercive control dating back to 2013–2015.
The trial, recently fast-tracked by a High Court judge due to the age of the allegations, will be one of the first civil cases in the UK to test whether coercive control—a form of psychological abuse—can legally amount to intentional harm.
Tate, who denies all allegations and claims all interactions were consensual, is also facing separate criminal investigations in the UK and Romania related to rape, human trafficking, and organized crime. The four-week civil trial will include multiple witnesses and marks a significant moment in how UK courts address emotional abuse in civil litigation.
