Austria Wins Eurovision 2025 with JJ’s Wasted Love

Austria claimed victory at the Eurovision Song Contest 2025 in Basel, Switzerland, with a stunning performance by 24-year-old singer JJ and his emotionally charged song “Wasted Love.” Blending operatic vocals with contemporary pop, JJ’s haunting countertenor voice captivated both juries and audiences across Europe.

His stage show, set against the dramatic imagery of a storm-tossed ship, added theatrical depth to the heartbreak ballad, symbolizing emotional turmoil and isolation. Austria earned a total of 436 points, with 258 coming from professional juries and 178 from the public televote—securing a win over strong contenders from Israel and Estonia.

This marks Austria’s third Eurovision victory, following previous wins in 1966 and 2014 (with Conchita Wurst’s iconic “Rise Like a Phoenix”). JJ’s success has been hailed as a blend of technical brilliance and raw emotion, signaling a fresh era for Austria’s presence on the Eurovision stage.
